The UC has been made aware of critical workforce needs in the following areas in Kay County:
1) Education - There is a state and local shortage of teachers for a variety of certified positions. A number of individuals choose education to make a difference in the life of others. In addition, with a work schedule that mirrors those of most children, it provides a life style opportunity that will maximize time with family. With recent changes to state funding, teachers enjoy more competitive pay, a suite of paid benefits including health insurance and paid retirement contributions. A degree in education can help you find a stable and rewarding career path. We can help you earn this degree in Ponca City!
2) Nursing - There's no secret that health care professionals have been on the frontlines in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even before the pandemic the UC BSN program was highly successful with each graduating student being offered positions locally and regionally. The UC students enrolled in NWOSU's nursing program are viewed as some of the highest regarded students in the state and nation due to its rankings in several national publications for student success rates and NCLEX pass rates. A degree in Nursing has long term benefits and offers stability while being financially beneficial.

Including the ability to work for yourself or with a number of organizations in and around Ponca City.
